On Wednesday, June 16, the selection committee for the Winter 2021 Sport & Development call for projects, which includes teams from AFD, La Guild, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and external experts, selected 14 winning projects in 11 countries out of 44 submitted projects.

Togo and Kenya were the most represented countries. New countries will see projects, financed through the Sport & Development call for projects – Winter 2021, see the light of day. This is the case of Niger, Djibouti and Nigeria.

The 14 winning projects use soccer, rugby, basketball, boxing, circus, cycling, dakaito ryu and surfing as levers for development, impacting on education, health and well-being, social inclusion, disability inclusion, training and professional insertion, social cohesion and gender equality and women’s empowerment Four of them already have projects referenced on the Sport en Commun platform.

The envelope of funds distributed amounts to 256 688 €, with a distribution of 11 009 € to 20 000 € per project.
