The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched the Olympic Refuge Foundation at its Session in Lima in September 2017. The Foundation’s mission is to support the protection, development and empowerment of children and young people living in vulnerable situations through sport. The Foundation is a major initiative resulting from the strong and long-standing partnership that has united the IOC and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) since 1994.

The IOC is committed to building a better world through sport. As the governing body of the Olympic Movement, it oversees the regular celebration of the Olympic Games, supports the member organisations of the Olympic Movement and promotes the Olympic values around the world.
