IncubaSport: Dakar Launches Africa’s First Incubator Dedicated to Sport, Wellness and Health Careers

As the global sport economy continues to expand, African countries are increasingly looking for ways to strengthen entrepreneurship, innovation and professional development within the sector. Against this backdrop, the City of Dakar, through the Municipal Development Fund (FODEM), together with WorkingFit, has launched IncubaSport, Africa’s first incubator dedicated exclusively to careers in sport, wellness and health. 
 
Developed as part of the legacy of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the initiative aims to transform the momentum generated by the event into long-term opportunities for young people, entrepreneurs and sport professionals. 
 
The programme combines entrepreneurship training, business incubation, mentoring, networking and acceleration support. Participants follow a common business curriculum before specializing in one of twelve emerging areas of the sport economy. 
 
Specialization tracks include sports nutrition, sports law, artificial intelligence and data analytics, sports marketing, sport management, media, coaching, health and wellness, performance analysis, urban design, equipment innovation and sport technologies. 
 
Programme organizers aim to support more than 1,000 young people, train 500 project leaders and accelerate 50 businesses. The initiative seeks to strengthen the wider African sport ecosystem while creating employment and innovation opportunities. 
 
By investing in skills development and entrepreneurship, Dakar aims to transform the legacy of Dakar 2026 into a lasting driver of economic and social impact.
