This study assesses the social impact of the Italian football club Virtus Entella and its philanthropic activities during the 2017/2018 season using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework. SROI evaluates the broader benefits and negative impacts of the club's activities on stakeholders, including supporters, sponsors, players, and shopkeepers. By combining qualitative, quantitative, and financial data, the analysis estimates the value created or destroyed, particularly in areas like mental health and well-being. The results indicate that Virtus Entella generated approximately €44 million in social value from a €15 million investment, yielding an SROI ratio of 2.98:1—demonstrating that every euro invested produced €3 of social benefit.
