SROI Analysis - SPOR ISTANBUL
Good health and well being
Quality education
Decent work and economic growth
Reduced inequalities
Spor İstanbul conducted Turkey’s first and largest Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis to evaluate its overall impact in 2021, focusing on creating healthier communities through grassroots sports initiatives. The analysis included feedback from 1,130 stakeholders (112 interviews, 1,018 surveys), identifying 29 outcomes: 25 positive and 4 negative, with unintended negative outcomes linked to high demand. Positive outcomes were rated higher in importance. The SROI report aims to guide internal and external stakeholders, such as local authorities and sports federations, in enhancing Spor İstanbul’s value by reducing negative impacts and optimizing benefits. Key findings revealed 74.8% of surveyed Istanbul residents do not exercise regularly, while 25.2% engage in physical activity at least once a week. Health was the primary motivator: 40.4% exercise to stay healthy, 39.5% to address health issues, and 9.9% for weight loss. Preferred exercise locations include open areas (28.7%), homes (24.8%), and sports centers (20.7%). This comprehensive SROI analysis emphasizes transparency and the importance of stakeholder input to improve access to sports services for all citizens.
