Within the framework of the "Finance in Common" Summit organized by AFD in November 2020, public development banks mobilised to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals came together for the first time. A special session on "sport and development" brought together a panel of actors from the sports ecosystem to discuss the issue of mobilising development financing for sustainable sport.

The values of sport and the Sustainable Development Goals are universal. This event presented how Public Development Banks (PDBs) can work more closely with the Olympic World to achieve sustainable development by :

  • mobilising actors (Alliance Dioko) for the Dakar 2026 YOG, as part of the legacy of Paris 2024
  • launching a Sport & Development coalition to promote funding with a high impact on development through sport
  • launching the “Sport en Commun”, a platform for connecting sport and development to initiate and support this coalition.
