The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is responsible for implementing France’s foreign policy and handling its relations with foreign States.

Overview

PISCCA, which stands for Innovative Projects by Civil Society and Coalitions of Actors, is a funding programme set up by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and managed locally by French embassies. The Fund aims to strengthen the role of civil society as a development actor, support innovative projects working for inclusive socio-economic development, and encourage initiatives that strengthen the role of women, young people and persons with disabilities.

Each embassy has an annual budget of between €330,000 and €400,000 to finance a call for projects on one or more themes. Every year, between 10 and 20 projects per country are selected to benefit from a grant of up to €55,000 for a period of two years.
Projects are selected by a committee comprising members of the embassy of the country concerned, technical and financial partners, public administration officials and civil society representatives.

  • Must be a civil society organisation that has existed for more than two years
  • Make sure that sport is one of the themes of the call for projects issued by the French embassy in the country where the civil society organisation operates

    The project seeks to empower 80 girls from disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Accra through access to sport and education and to train 20 physical education teachers on new methods of teaching sports in public schools in two working-class neighbourhoods of Accra.
  • Care and Action for Mental Health in Africa: selected in the PISCCA 2019 “Sport and Social Inclusion” call for projects issued by the French Embassy in
    The project works for the inclusion through sport of persons with mental illness by improving the well-being of patients and educating and training mental health professionals.
