OVERVIEW
A key provider of information on sport for development via the sportanddev.org platform
The Swiss Academy for Development is a Swiss NGO, created in 1991, that has become a centre of excellence in the field of development through sport. The organisation uses sport and play to improve the prospects of disadvantaged children and youth, in Switzerland and worldwide, and thus enable them to gain access to health, education and employment. Alongside the field projects it carries out in various countries, the Swiss Academy for Development has worked with high-level partners like the International Olympic Committee, the International Labour Organization and UEFA to provide advice on impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, and training.
The Swiss Academy for Development manages the international sport and development platform – sportanddev.org – which was launched in 2003. The platform is an online resource and networking tool that is designed to meet the different needs of the stakeholder community within the sport and development ecosystem and therefore fulfils three major objectives:
– Raise the profile of sport’s development potential
– Contribute to the pursuit of development through sport
– Encourage dialogue, promote creation of partnerships and facilitate strategic alliances
Partnership with the Sport en Commun platform
Through its sportanddev.org platform, the Swiss Academy for Development brings its expertise to users of the Sport en Commun (Sport in Common) platform by mobilising its teams to:
– Share content (such as studies, articles and personal stories) about sport for development
– Organise training sessions on sport for development
