Set up by FIFA and GIZ, the "Sport for women's empowerment e" programme aims to combat gender inequality in several regions of the world.

General presentation

“Sport for women’s empowerment” is a programme designed to combat gender-based inequality and violence through physical activity. It mainly targets women and young girls and focuses on several themes such as female leadership, professional integration, entrepreneurship, governance, access to healthcare, etc.

  • Type of support: Funding of between €18,000 and €22,000
  • Selection procedure: Call for projects with jury
  • Deadline for applications: 14 December 2023

 

Eligibility criteria

  • Have been registered for at least 2 years in the country in which the project is taking place (and have proof of this);
  • Have annual resources of €500,000 or less (this criterion does not apply to FIFA member associations);
  • The project must take place in one of the eligible countries;
  • Focus on women and girls, while not neglecting the importance of men and boys;
  • Use sport as a tool for the emancipation of women;
  • Total expenditure must not exceed €150,000 (excluding promotion);
  • The total duration of the project must be between 9 and 11 months. The project must start in March 2024 and end in February 2025 at the latest.
