60 laureates join phase 2 of the “Impact 2024 International” call for projects
The “Impact 2024 International” call for projects was born out of the joint desire of AFD and Paris 2024 to create a laboratory for bringing the world of sport and the world of development closer together. It aims to make sport a lever for sustainable development in Africa. It is fully in line with the Paris 2024 legacy strategy, with the priority of strengthening the role of sport for health, education, equality, inclusion, solidarity and the environment.
Following the launch of Impact 2024 International on 15 July, more than 700 registrations were received for a total of 275 initiatives submitted. 48 countries from the African continent were represented. Football, athletics and basketball are the sports most used in the various initiatives proposed.
60 project managers were finally pre-selected to participate in phase 2 of the call for projects. These 60 organisations have until 31 October 2021 to continue their application for funding. The final list of winners will be announced on 20 December 2021.
Find out here the list of selected projects that will soon be highlighted in the Projects section of the Common Sport platform.
This call for projects is also in line with the calls for projects supported by AFD since 2019 which have already resulted in 65 projects being funded in more than 24 countries. It will be proposed four times in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
