60 structures join phase 2 of the second session of the “Impact 2024 International” call for projects
The “Impact 2024 International” call for projects was born out of the joint desire of AFD and Paris 2024 to create a laboratory for bringing the world of sport and the world of development closer together. It aims to make sport a lever for sustainable development in Africa. It is fully in line with the Paris 2024 legacy strategy, with the priority of strengthening the role of sport for health, education, equality, inclusion, solidarity and the environment.
Following the success of the first session of this call for projects during which 10 projects were laureates, the second session opened in Janurary 2022. More than 175 registrations were received for a total of 146 initiatives submitted during the 4 weeks of opening of the phase 1.
30 countries from the African continent are represented in the submitted initiatives with football, basketball and rugby as the most represented sports.
60 project managers were eventually pre-selected for phase 2 of this call for projects. These 60 structures have until 14 April 2022 to continue their application for funding. The final list of winners will be announced on 17 June 2022.

This call for projects is also in line with the calls for projects supported by AFD since 2019 which have already resulted in 75 projects being funded in more than 24 countries. Two other sessions will take place in 2022 and 2023.
