Phase 1 of the 3rd session of the Impact 2024 International call for projects, co-financed by Paris 2024 and AFD, came to an end on September 1st.

AFD and Paris 2024 are pursuing their desire to bring the world of sport and development closer together with a 3rd edition of the Impact 2024 International call for projects. After two first sessions allowing 22 initiatives in Africa awarded grants from €10,000 to €40,000, this 3rd session is already a success.

More than 365 new inscriptions were recorded for 202 initiatives submitted during the 6 weeks of the opening of phase 1 of this session.

35 countries from the African continent are represented in the projects submitted, using the new Olympic sports such as breakdance, surfing, climbing and skateboarding, but also more original sports such as double-dutch.

63 project managers were finally shortlisted for phase 2 of the call for projects. These 63 organisations have until 31st October 2022 to continue their application for funding. The final list of laureates will be released from 20th December 2022.

Find out here the list of the 63 pre-selected projects.

This call for projects is fully in line with the Paris 2024 strategy of legacy with the priority of strengthening the role of sport for health, education, equality, inclusion, solidarity and the environment. It is also in line with the calls for projects supported by AFD since 2019 which have already enabled 87 projects in more than 24 countries to be funded. A final fourth session will take place early 2023.
