At the Rio Olympics in 2016, the Olympic refugee team marched for the first time in its history. In Tokyo in August, this delegation will be back.

29 athletes will make up the Olympic refugee team that will participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Among them are athletes from Ethiopia, Congo, South Sudan and Cameroon. They will bring a message of hope and solidarity to the world’s biggest sporting stage.

Represented by the Olympic flag, the group will take second place at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on 23 July. Our Senior Advisor Tegla Loroupe will be the mission leader of the team.
