Construction of the SN Sports Complex
Context
The city of Yaoundé has few covered football pitches (useful during hot weather or in times of rain), and the same is true for basketball, where the few gymnasiums available in the city are owned by the high schools and have a filling rate of almost 100% due to the high demand.
The presence of sports facilities influences not only the choice of sports (Hallmann, Wicker, Breuer and al. 2012) but also community development. Indeed, by teaching values of fairness, equality, inclusion and respect, sport helps to improve citizenship and social capital within the community. In addition, physical activity, through its effect on health and mental capacity, improves worker productivity and therefore economic growth. In addition, the funds collected during sports events can finance social development programmes (construction of schools, health centres, etc.).
In view of these advantages offered by sports infrastructures, the initiative carried by SN Sports aims at building a sport complex in the city of Yaoundé.
