Established in 2010, TIBU Africa is a non-profit association involved in the promotion and the practice of basketball in Morocco through several educational and social projects. Playing a leading role in the field of social innovation through sport, the association utilises basketball as the driving force of education, cohesion and social integrat
Based on the Olympic Games, Morocco Preschool Olympics is a programme designed by TIBU Maroc for all preschool stakeholders whose goals are to convey the values of sport, peace, friendship, respect and excellence. The project is estimated at €50,667.

Context

The education provided by preschool structures promotes equity and equal opportunities concerning access to education. Despite universal access to primary education, in 2017, only 50 % of children aged between 4 and 5 were in pre-elementary structures in Morocco (World Bank, 2019). Because of the importance of pre-school education, the Ministry of National Education, the Professional Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research launched a national programme for the generalisation and development of pre-school education in Morocco.

In fitting with the vision of the government, the “Morocco Preschool Olympics” initiative tends to disseminate the practice of a sporting activity by targeting the children between 3 and 5. The project aims at ensuring sharing of the TIBU Maroc expertise as concerns education programmes through sport. Morocco Preschool Olympics inspires and encourages pre-schools to include customised physical activity as a regular part of their curriculum. The project’s purpose is to produce a qualitative programme for the children and a transformational one for the adults so as to register them as an essential component to the national effort associated with the generalisation of pre-school education in Morocco by 2028.

Goals

  • Promote access to sport and to physical activity to the biggest number of children in Morocco
  • Share the TIBU Maroc expertise with the various stakeholders
  • Promote the practice of a regular activity and promoting the children’s integration through sport
  • Position TIBU Maroc as both a social innovation actor through sport in Morocco and a carrier of innovative solutions for the ecosystem.
