EDUCAFOOT
Context
In Côte d’Ivoire, the knowledge acquired by primary school pupils is generally low (RESEN, 2016). In order to assess the level of pupils in CE1, the Directorate for Programme Monitoring and Surveillance (DVSP) conducted an assessment of learning outcomes in 2012. As part of this assessment, a cognitive test based on the curriculum followed in French and mathematics was conducted in 70 schools at CE1 level. The proportion of students who mastered less than half of what they should have acquired was 87% in French and 75% in mathematics.
In order to improve the level of primary schools, the AKA association, through its “EDUCAFOOT” project, uses sport to achieve a number of educational objectives.
