Strengthening the Mapubi social, cultural and sports centre in Cameroon
Context
According to the Ministry of Basic Education, the theoretical number of children to be enrolled in school in Cameroon rose from 2.5 million in 2002 to nearly 3.4 million in 2015, an increase of 34.5%. The 2013-2020 Education and Training Sector Strategy Paper (DSSEF) estimates the number of school-age children at 100,000 per year.
Excluded from the education system, children are unable to acquire basic knowledge, integrate into society and contribute to the development of their community. They are exposed to harmful practices such as alcohol and drug use.
This is where CULTUDE intends to intervene through its “Sporteid” project, which combines sport and education.
