Midzo-Midzo: promoting young people’s well-being through sport
Context
According to the World Bank (2023), poverty levels in Togo are twice as high in rural areas (58.8%) as in urban areas (26.5%). Yoto 1, like the other rural communes, has a high poverty index and a predominantly agricultural population. Due to the limited choice of economic and leisure activities, young people migrate to the capital, 80 km away.
Despite the efforts made, challenges remain to ensure access to sporting activities, particularly for women and young people in rural areas.
