Surfkids Shredding Senegal for education through surfing
Context
In Senegal, education remains a goal of primary importance. According to a national study on out-of-school children and youth in Senegal conducted by OSAID in 2017, the dropout rate is 20% among children and youth aged 6 to 16. This phenomenon is mainly linked to family poverty, school curricula that are not well adapted to economic realities or a loss of motivation among young learners.
The ASC Malika Surf project is primarily aimed at marginalised girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 18 and uses surfing to educate, empower and develop the skills of young people.
