Improving health and well-being of poor children with development delay
Context
Perinatal asphyxia is due to a lack of blood circulation or gas exchange to or from the foetus, during or after childbirth. Various studies have shown that birth asphyxia increases the risk of cerebral palsy and development delay in children.
A study led in the Kamonyi district by Fellows In Development (FIND) revealed that children with cerebral palsy or development delay are victims of stigmatisation, social discrimination and social exclusion.
Drawing on the inclusive power of sport, the project offers these children adapted sporting activities.
