Kids for Africa Sports Academy was founded in 2009 in a local community of Masajja near Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Their mission is to empower and transform the lives of Uganda’s vulnerable children and youth by using the power of sport.
SEAS aims to build a primary school and a quality sport centre to allow children, both boys and girls, to access quality education and organised sports activity without discrimination.

Context

A lot of Children in Uganda face hardships to access sport and primary school education. According to the Government of Uganda and UNICEF in 2019, 56% of children suffer multiple deprivations. Kids for Africa Sport Academy confirms this figure in the Masajja suburbs (next to Kampala) by stating that about 85% of the children are from less privileged family.

These hardships prevent children from accessing quality education and sport which is mainly seen as a leisure activity and not a right to be preserved.

This project will increase children’s access to quality education, sport and clean and safe water thanks to the building of a primary school and a sport centre.

Objectives

  • Extend quality primary education opportunities for vulnerable and marginalized children, fight illiteracy and reduce the increasing rate of school dropouts in Uganda
  • Increase children enrolment in sport activities
  • Eradicate poverty amongst youth in Uganda
  • Extend clean and safe water to communities

Activities

  • Establish a primary school to enable children to access basic education
  • Establish a soccer field to enable children to actively participate in organized sports activities as a right to every child
