Streetfootballworld Festival 19 : international solidarity tournament

Sport dans la Ville (Sport in the City) has been France's leading non-profit organisation promoting integration through sport for 20 years. Sport dans la Ville's programmes encourage the social and professional integration of its 6,500 registered young people.
A project managed by Streetfootballworld
Founded in 2002, Streetfootballworld is an NGO that uses the practice of football as a global development tool. With a network of 135 members in over 60 countries, this NGO carries out projects in partnership with local organisations that are active in the sport and sustainable development ecosystem.
In 2019, over 300 young people from associations belonging to the Streetfootballworld international network gathered for an exceptional tournament, which was held from 29 June to 8 July to coincide with the Women's World Cup.
Context
Sport dans la Ville organised the 2019 Streetfootballworld Festival in Lyon to coincide with the Women’s World Cup in France.
As a member of the Streetfootballworld international network, Sport dans la Ville enabled young people from disadvantaged areas all over the world to take part in this international solidarity tournament.
Goals
- Strengthen international solidarity by gathering together young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Develop inclusive partnerships
- Promote gender equality and diversity in sport on the occasion of the Women’s World Cup
- Raise cultural awareness among the young participants of the tournament
Activities
- An international solidarity football tournament bringing together 304 participants from 35 different countries (48 delegations)
- Delegations made up of four players (at least two girls), two support staff, one “Young Leader” and a head of delegation
- Workshops dedicated to the promotion of gender equality
- A programme of tourist activities and cultural visits for the young participants
- 400 girls and families invited to meet inspirational women from the worlds of sport, media and business
